Cape Motorsports adds Braden Eves for 2019 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship fight

CAPE MOTORSPORTS ADDS BRADEN EVES FOR 2019 USF2000 FIGHT

Former F4 and F1600 winner primed to challenge for title out of the gate

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (February 15, 2019) – With the opening round of this year’s Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires less than a month away, Cape Motorsports is excited to announce their second driver for this year’s Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. New Albany, Ohio’s Braden Eves will join the multi-time series champions for 2019, having gained additional experience in F4, F1600 and USF2000 last season. The 19-year-old karting champion has won at some of the biggest karting events in the United States, including the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour.  Eves’ enters his first full season of USF2000 competition with wins in F4 and F1600 on his resume as well.

“We are extremely happy to announce Braden as part of our 2019 line-up,” commented Nicholas and Dominic Cape.  “He has the background we look for and we both feel that he will excel in our team environment. We can’t wait to get started at St Pete.”

Eves began his racing career in 2005 in club karting, eventually working his way up the ranks through the World Karting Association Manufacturers Cup, United States Pro Kart Series, and Superkarts! USA Pro Tour. As a young karter, he added to his resume along the way, scoring many wins and titles as he established himself as one of the top kart racers in North America.

Braden made his step up to cars in 2017, running just three of the seven events on the F4 US Championship, yet still finishing a stellar sixth overall with one victory, six podium finishes and eight top-four results. In 2018, Eves ran the first three F4 weekends of the year and then refocused, making a single weekend appearance in the F1600 Championship Series, scoring a pair of wins amidst three podium finishes. He also sampled the waters in USF2000, participating in the series finale at Portland International Raceway. Braden qualified in the top-six for both races of the doubleheader, finishing sixth in Race 1 after contact took him out of Race 2.  To cap the season, Eves was selected to join the Team USA Scholarship program in England, but was forced to decline in the invite due to a medical issue that has since been remedied.

“Cape Motorsports is really a great team, and their history of winning championships speaks for itself,” Eves added. “Coming off a difficult 2018 season, it’s extremely refreshing to have such confidence in the people around me. I’ve been working hard at home to put all of this together, as well as getting my fitness back to 100% after my surgeries a few months ago. Pre-season testing starts next week and I can’t wait to get back into the car. I’m excited to work with Cape Motorsports and learn from their experience! Special thanks to Team USA Scholarship for giving me the opportunity to compete for the MRTI 200k scholarship a few months ago. This season can’t come soon enough!

The Cape Motorsports crew continues their pre-season testing and the entire team will be on-track at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 2-3 for official Spring Training ahead of the season opener at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 8-10.

Newman Wachs Racing announces Siegel As First USF2000 Driver For 2019

NEWMAN WACHS RACING ANNOUNCES SIEGEL AS FIRST USF2000 DRIVER FOR 2019

Northern California rookie joins veteran team for the full 2019 Road to Indy season

CHICAGO, IL (February 13, 2019) – Newman Wachs Racing is pleased to announce its first Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires driver for the 2019 season. American Nolan Siegel will make his debut in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the March 8-10 weekend, and the 14-year-old California native will be focused on learning the car and the tracks throughout the year.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Nolan this year,” said Brian Halahan, NWR Team Manager. “I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people throughout the season. He’s been working with Tom Dyer, our driver coach, over the winter months and has also completed a few days of testing, so he should be ready to go at the season opener in St. Pete.”

Siegel got his start racing karts in Northern California at the renowned Simraceway Performance Karting Center, which is located at Sonoma Raceway.  In 2013, as a car lover at the age of eight, he sampled a kart at the Sonoma facility and hasn’t stopped since. The next year, Nolan continued karting at the local club level before stepping it up in 2015 and 2016, competing in the California Rotax Max Challenge and then the ROK Sonoma Series. Siegel won the ROK Junior championship in the ROK Sonoma Series in 2017, and he also competed against some of the best karters at the Superkarts! USA California ProKart Challenge. The 2018 season brought many new experiences for the young pilot, as he continued to develop his racecraft at the SKUSA ProKart Challenge, running in both the X30 Junior and S5 Junior Stock Honda shifter. Nolan also traveled overseas to compete in a Central European Rotax Championship event. Siegel then made the decision to test out the world of open-wheel formula car racing. Staying close to home, he competed in the Sonoma Raceway Formula 3 Series, where he was crowned the 2018 champion at the young age of 13. Motivated by his success in 2018 and with the help and mentorship of Tom Dyer, Siegel is now prepared to take on the challenge of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship with Newman Wachs Racing.

“I am very excited to step up to a new level of competition,” Siegel enthused. “Especially with such a well-known and established team like Newman Wachs Racing. It is going to be a big challenge, but I am ready and itching to get out on track in St. Pete.”

Newman Wachs Racing has been hard at work this off-season, prepping cars and testing multiple drivers. While their main focus remains the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires, the team did compete in the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill last December, where they fielded a Radical SR3 RSX that placed second in class. Building on that success, they dominated the class to come home as the winner of their next race, the PBOC 6-Hour Sebring Winterfest in January. The entire team has now shifted back to the Road to Indy and the official series test in Homestead, Florida on March 2-3 before traveling north for the season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 8-10. The team is looking forward to the new drivers and the new season ahead.

EXCLUSIVE AUTOSPORT THRILLED TO WELCOME BACK DANIAL FROST

EXCLUSIVE AUTOSPORT THRILLED TO WELCOME BACK DANIAL FROST
Singapore driver Danial Frost will rejoin the squad for the 2019 Indy Pro 2000 campaign

SASKATOON, SK (February 12, 2019) – Exclusive Autosport is extremely excited to welcome back 17-year-old Danial Frost to the team, as the young driver from Singapore will compete in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires program. In 2018, Frost participated with Exclusive Autosport in seven rounds over three weekends in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, racking up an impressive five top-10 finishes in his Road to Indy debut with a top result of fourth in Toronto. With that experience completed, Frost elected to make the calculated jump up to the Indy Pro 2000 series after successfully testing a PM-18 car at the Chris Griffis Memorial test in September. Danial has also completed numerous off-season tests in preparation for an attack on the 2019 series championship. In addition to testing the Indy Pro 2000 car stateside, he also competed in the first two weekends of the MRF Challenge 2018-2019 Formula 2000 Championship. Frost raced the opening events in Dubai and Bahrain, scoring one win and six top-fives.

“We are thrilled to welcome Danial back to the Exclusive Autosport program for 2019,” enthused Michael Duncalfe, Team Principal. “Danial showed very quickly that he has immense talent behind the wheel and has adapted really quickly to the Indy Pro 2000 car. We have been busy over the off season preparing on and off the track for the upcoming Indy Pro 2000 championship. He had his best finish with us on the streets of Toronto last year, so we are anticipating a strong showing in the first outing at St. Petersburg.”

As most drivers do, Frost began his racing career in karting at the age of 15 in his home country of Singapore. After developing his initial racecraft, he moved on to compete in the 2016 F4 South East Asia Championship, winning an impressive nine times. He also scored his first of two titles in the Singapore Karting Championship. In 2017, Danial won in the Formula Masters series and gained his first podium in the MRF Challenge series, all while continuing his karting program with another crown in the Singapore Karting Championship. After competing in USF2000 in 2018, the move up to Indy Pro 2000 was a natural progression, considering the significant amount of seat time that he has logged in cars similar to the PM-18.

“I’m super stoked to have been given the opportunity to be working with Exclusive Autosport for this season,” Frost enthused. “I’ll be working harder than ever to get the results and I’m ready for the next step in Indy Pro 2000!”
The team is ready and the cars have been prepared for the next official test for the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires, which will take Exclusive Autosport back to South Florida for official Spring Training at Homestead on March 2-3, followed immediately by the 2019 season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 8-10. The entire Exclusive Autosport staff is motivated to begin their third season of Road to Indy competition to build off their tremendous successes of 2017 and 2018.

Exclusive Autosport is pleased to be able to partner with great companies, such as AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology (www.rethinkpaint.com), which is used on all their race cars.

After spending the past year racing in the IndyCar series for Dale Coyne Racing, 20-year-old Claman returns to the Indy Lights category hungry to win.

“I am very excited to be joining Belardi Auto Racing for the upcoming season.  The team has a great track record for being very competitive and for getting drivers to IndyCar and keeping them there.  Being back in Indy Lights will be good for my development as a driver and as a competitor, but my only goal going into this season is to win the championship.” – Zachary Claman

DAVID MALUKAS ADDS THREE ROAD TO INDY WINS IN 2018 AS HE PREPARES FOR THE NEXT STEP OF HIS MOTORSPORTS CAREER

December 21, 2018 – It was a career year for second year Road to Indy driver David Malukas. Making the move to the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires (formerly Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires), after a brief hiatus in USF2000, Malukas capped off his best formula car season to date with three victories, six podiums, two pole positions and one dominant weekend, sweeping each and every official on track session.

“It was a great season but along with the highs come the lows,” explained Malukas. “Being able to stand on the podium six times was good and to stand on the top step of three of them was one of the best feelings ever. However, a drive through penalty took away a chance at a podium in Indy, a crash at Lucas Oil Raceway and a mechanical issue while leading at Mid-Ohio really hurt our overall point total for the year. 2019 presents a new challenge and I am 100% focused.”

Kicking off the season in the Streets of St. Petersburg, Malukas piloted his BN Racing prepared Pro Mazda to a second place podium result. Starting the season off on the right foot, another podium was gained at Barber Motorsports Park before a low point at the Indianapolis Grand Prix weekend.

Malukas continued, “Indy was not a good month for results. We were really quick on the road course as the BN Racing guys nailed the setup but an unfortunate drive through penalty ruined any chance of a good result. On to Lucas Oil Raceway and the first oval of my career, it took a while for me to get comfortable but when I did, I had top-five pace. An unfortunate incident took me out of the race and caused a lot of work for the team.”

A few weeks later the hard work paid off as the Chicago, Illinois resident dominated Road America. Scoring a pair of pole positions, two fast lap honors and topping the podium in both wheel-to-wheel races, Malukas claimed a perfect weekend at one of North America’s most historic tracks and in front of the complete Road to Indy ladder program.
Heading north of the border for the one and only event in Canada, Malukas entered the Streets of Toronto with momentum and confidence. Showing pace, and claiming the second fastest lap in both wheel-to-wheel events, an incident in race one forced him to retire while a punctured tire in the second race on the weekend hindered any chance of a good finish.

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was the facility that Malukas was looking forward to since his weekend at Road America. A long, flowing historic circuit and two more chances to claim the checkers, the future motorsports star claimed a second place result in race one, before a mechanical failure while leading in race two forced him to the sidelines. Upset that he was unable to make it to the checkered flag, Malukas did not let his emotions get the best of him as he hopped the fence and into the crowd to take pictures with fans and sign autographs for kids becoming an instant hero to some young Mid-Ohio race fans.

The cross-country trek to the Portland International Raceway proved to be fruitful for the American as Malukas ended his season with his third victory and secured the fourth position in the overall championship chase.

With a new season on the horizon and a new challenge, the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, David Malukas is one step away from his ultimate goal of being an IndyCar driver. Along with a new season comes a new media program, including a new website that is now officially online at www.DavidMalukas.com.

Malukas added, “This season has been great and I can’t thank all of my partners for their hard work and continued support. A huge shout out to BN Racing, Bryn Nuttall and his complete staff there as they have managed to build a program from the ground up, and not only a program, a winning program. Another great partner of mine has been HMD Trucking and without them, I would not be where I am today. Also a special thank you to FreemUK for keeping me safe as well as making me look good. Best suits on the market!”

Taking time away from the track for the holidays, David Malukas and his BN Racing Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires program will hit the track in January to continue their winter test program.

ANTHONY FAMULARO JOINS BN RACING USF2000 EFFORTS FOR 2019

January 31, 2019 – Chicago, IL – After competing in high-level karting in North America and moving to Europe to try his hand in the Italian F4 program in 2018, Anthony Famularo is returning to competition in North America with BN Racing. Inking a deal to compete in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, Famularo will join the highly successful BN Racing program that already includes multi-time Road to Indy race winner and Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires rookie David Malukas.

“We are welcoming Anthony to BN Racing with open arms,” explained Bryn Nuttall. “Anthony has proven to be fast in preseason testing, and I am confident that he will surprise a lot of people in his rookie season. He comes with a great coach and mentor in former F1 race winner and multi-time Indianapolis 500 Champion Juan Pablo Montoya”

As a former national level kart racer and a multi-time champion of the sport, Famularo is new to the Road to Indy program, but not to open wheel racing. As a competitor in the Italian F4 Championship in 2018, Famularo gained valuable experience that will aid his efforts in his new 2019 program.

Nuttall continued, “We have just completed several days of testing since the new year and look forward to continuing the development work with Anthony. Even with our results in 2018, we are building and improving our team every month and I think with a little more time, testing and experience in the seat of a USF-17, Anthony could achieve some solid results in the upcoming season.”

With their Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires seat filled with David Malukas and one of their Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship seats now confirmed with Anthony Famularo, BN Racing will have several more announcements on the horizon including two drivers in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires as well as another USF driver that will compete alongside Famularo.

All of our offseason tests have been terrific, and I’ve been impressed with every aspect of the team. While I know Indy Lights will be a big jump up from Indy Pro 2000, I am confident that Andretti will give me a great car, and I am ready to get going. Thank you to Palo Alto Networks, Optiv, Sailpoint, CyberArk, and my family for this amazing opportunity.”

Megennis will join veteran driver Ryan Norman (No. 48 car) for the Indy Lights season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida. The season’s first event will host two races on the Streets of downtown St. Petersburg, one race on both Saturday and Sunday.

Road to Indy TV Returns for Season 6 – Expands Exclusive Coverage of all Three Ladder Series

Road to Indy TV Returns for Season 6
Expands Exclusive Coverage of all Three Ladder Series

PALMETTO, Fla. – The Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires will feature enhanced coverage on Road to Indy TV as it enters its 10th year as one of the most successful driver development programs in the world. Road to Indy TV debuted in 2014 providing behind-the-scenes access and exposure to drivers, teams and personnel on the ladder system in Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship.

The collaboration between Andersen Promotions and Pro Racing Group to form Road To Indy TV has resulted in a number of firsts, including Road to Indy becoming the first American racing series with a dedicated broadcast channel on demand – currently available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire and Roku – and the first open-wheel series to have an official App on Xbox One.

The 2019 season of Road to Indy TV will continue to see further enrichments with more coverage delivered directly to fans including live content on race weekends streamed to Road to Indy TV’s 300,000+ followers on Facebook. The segments will bring the paddock to the fans and provide live updates throughout events of everything Road to Indy.

Road to Indy TV will continue to produce full post-race highlight shows and Season 6 will now see sections of the shows posted on social media every other day in the week following a race with the full episode available on the Road To Indy TV App, website and dedicated broadcast channels. The shows will provide more screen time opportunities for drivers as they host various segments in the expanded format.

A new partnership between Road to Indy TV and TSOLadder.com Presented by Cooper Tires – which provides dedicated coverage of the Road to Indy – will be an integral part of the shows, bringing new storylines and programming including a new “False Grid” podcast that will help fans learn more about drivers on the Road to Indy in addition to the latest news for each series.

“With today’s media, we at Pro Racing Group understand that the consumer wants the product immediately,” said JP Manterola, Road To Indy TV Executive Director and founder of Pro Racing Group. “If not, the interest gets lost. That is why we have chosen to move into live content during the race weekends and to increase the frequency of the edited TV show with shorter segments that are released every other day. We are greatly enhancing our social media presence in 2019 and look forward to the addition of our partnership with TSO Ladder.”

Road to Indy TV will also continue with live streaming and live timing coverage of Road to Indy race weekend on-track sessions on the Road to Indy TV App which, in addition to the Road to Indy arcade-style game, are available as free downloads at the App Store (iPhones) and Google Play (Android).

“Our goal when we started Road to Indy TV was to provide an avenue of additional exposure for all of our drivers, teams and partners and the tremendous competition we have across the three series,” said Dan Andersen, Owner and CEO of Andersen Promotions. “JP and his team at Pro Racing Group continually strive to enhance our initial vision and continue to knock it out of the ballpark on this project.

“Adding drivers as hosts is a win-win as fans can get to know the drivers and drivers gain experience in front of the camera, which furthers our efforts in off-track training to prepare drivers as they move up the ladder. Bringing TSO Ladder into the loop, who have been so supportive of our series with great coverage, will provide a new perspective. We look forward to showcasing what should be another exciting season of racing with Road to Indy TV.”

The 2019 Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires season will kick off with its traditional Spring Training on March 2-4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway followed by the season-opener March 8-10 on the streets of St. Petersburg.
