The first official Cooper Tires USF2000 Powered by Mazda session of the season got under way under the setting sun on the shores of Tampa Bay.
Originally scheduled for 30 minutes, the session was shortened to 20 minutes due to earlier track delays. Most drivers were only able to get in six to eight laps laps of the 1.8 mile 14-turn street circuit before the checkered flag fell to end the day.
There was one red flag in the session and according to this tweet from the voice of the Mazda Road To Indy, Rob Howden it was caused by Parker Thompson (Cape Motorsports with /WTR)

Leading the way were a group of sophomore drivers led by Anthony Martin (Cape Motorsports with /WTR) who’s top lap time was 1:15.458. Yufeng Luo (Pabst Racing), Victor Franzoni (ArmsUp Motorsports), Jordan Lloyd (Pabst Racing) and Nikita Lastochkin (Cape Motorsports with /WTR) rounded out the remainder of the top five.
