(February 12, 2015) — With an expanded sophomore season being finalized as a dynamic backdrop, the Formula Lites® organization today announced that internationally renowned tire brand Pirelli has been named as series title sponsor for 2016.

“Pirelli is proud to become the title sponsor of Formula Lites and continue investing in growing our open-wheel motorsport footprint in North America,” explained Pirelli Sr. Vice-President Media Relations, Motorsports and Prestige Activation Rafael Navarro. “This project kicked off at 2014’s SEMA show and has impressed us with an incredibly effective grassroots marketing and promotion that we come to expect when we work with Ryan Arciero and Dennis McCormack. We are committed to the growth of Formula Lites and using their unique racing platform to help discover and groom the next generation of North American open-wheel talent.

A primary objective for the Pirelli Formula Lites Championship Series will be to build upon the successful public relations and video platform that offers teams, drivers and their corporate supporters professionally produced, top-level content that can be leveraged across many media channels. In 2015, that effort collectively generated nearly $1,000,000 in exposure. Additionally, series’ participants will benefit from the growth in the Formula Lites® brand across the globe.

“Today’s announcement with Pirelli is a validation of the entire Formula Lites’ concept,” explained Co-Managing Partner Dennis McCormack. “Pirelli has been a key partner to Formula Lites since its inception. This new alliance allows us to position the series to an even more significant place in America’s growing open-wheel racing environment.”

The “Pirelli Formula Lites Championship Series,” an innovative open-wheel concept, enjoyed a successful inaugural year in 2015 thanks to the support of a pioneering group of teams and racers — along with an enviable long list of top-tier corporate partners. The Crawford Composites FL-15 chassis performed flawlessly on Pirelli tires. Pirelli’s enhanced commitment to Formula Lites® comes just weeks after engine supplier Honda Performance Development (HPD) announced their commitment to an upgraded powerplant at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show.

“Our teams and drivers love racing on Pirelli tires and to compete in a series sponsored by such a prestigious brand raises their credentials to the next level professionally,” said Co-Managing Partner Ryan Arciero. “There is now a stronger link between our young talent and the top echelon of open-wheel racing thanks to Pirelli’s ties with Formula 1.”

As captured by renowned automotive artist Boyd Jaynes, the Pirelli-shod Formula Lites Crawford FL-15 is as photogenic as it is state-of-the-art. Already setting a high standard for professionally created social media content, in 2016 Formula Lites will raise their commitment level of top-level exposure for teams, drivers and sponsors.

What began in 2014 as a worldwide launch in the Pirelli booth at SEMA – the automotive industry’s largest tradeshow — has now blossomed into one of motorsports’ true success stories as Formula Lites® prepares to kick-off its second season this May.

In addition to today’s announcement, Formula Lites® will release a final 2016 race schedule over the coming weeks, as well as additional corporate partnership and series news.
